About the Blue Grass Festival
The second annual Amboy Bluegrass and Old
Time Music Festival will take place June 19-22, 2008 at
Amboy Territorial Park in Amboy,
Washington. The Festival will feature over 13 bands,
at least two stages, instrument contests for trophies and prestige, instrument
workshops with great local teachers, food and drink vendors, hand made artist
show and sale, kids workshops, open mikes, square dancing hosted by Bill Martin
(Friday Night after the show at the grange hall), community covered jamming
areas, indoor and outdoor events and old time demonstrations. This year the
festival adds the “Miss Winnebago” beauty pageant for the bluegrass widows.
The bands
performing this year include: Runaway Train, Urban Monroes, Deadwood Revival,
Great Northern Planes, Kathy Boyd and Phoenix Rising, Wide River, Chickweed,
Whiskey Puppy, Puddletown Ramblers, Dewgrass, Small Towne, George Chudacoff, and
Reggie Miles. Instrument Workshops taught by some of the Northwest's best
musicians.
Park is lit at night for easy jamming. Indoor hot
showers/bathrooms are promised to be finished by the festival opening day. Park
is across the street from a grocery store and walking distance to restaurants.
Come enjoy a beautiful venue and a great weekend with a small town feel. Help
keep the great bluegrass tradition alive and support local music.
